唐僧师徒在金平府过元宵，看花灯。

灯会上，有三盏大型金灯非常华美，异香扑鼻。

原来这灯烧的是酥合香油，每年置办这些香油要花去很多钱财。

然而燃灯用油并不多，大部分的油都被"佛祖"收走了。

这"佛祖"今年又来收油，顺便把唐僧也收了去。

原来那根本不是佛祖，而是辟寒、辟暑、辟尘三个犀牛精冒充的。

悟空与三怪大战，不能取胜。

沙僧、八戒也被三怪抓走。

悟空只好上天宫求救，正好遇到太白金星，在他的指点下，悟空请来四木禽星，打败了犀牛精。

从此，金平府再也不用筹集巨额香油钱，人人欢庆。
