School Library Journal
May 1, 2019
PreS-Gr 2-This four-volume series connects the concept of color to four subjects: art history, science, nature, and culture. In El arte de color, famous art is broken down by color, citing the crayons that readers might use to re-create them. In La ciencia del color, children learn about the color wheel and how to create new colors. El color en la naturaleza will inspire children to find their favorite color in nature. Concepts including complementary colors, using colors to represent different emotions, and how colors serve a scientific purpose in nature are presented appropriately for even the youngest readers. The images highlighted on each page are interspersed between simple sentences and questions for further reflection. VERDICT Kids will love exploring their favorite crayons; early childhood education classrooms and daycare centers may want to consider as well.
