Staying focused in school is important. If you're hungry, it might be very difficult to concentrate on learning. That makes lunch a very important meal. Lunch is also the perfect time for children to catch up with their friends. Some kids get school lunch while others bring a packed lunch. This book focuses on the importance of providing children with healthy food options at school to help them remain energized and focused. Vivid illustrations and manageable text is perfect for both young listeners and emerging readers alike.

PreS-Gr 1-An illustrated narrative nonfiction series, aimed at instilling healthy eating habits in children. Each title gives examples of healthy food kids can eat at the different meals. For Puedo merendar, Qu desayuno, and Una cena deliciosa a different family is illustrated in a realistic setting. Vamos a almorzar takes place in a school setting. The attractive illustrations represent people of different ethnicities and families, as well as a father with a prosthetic leg. The Spanish translation is correct. However, there is one factual mistake: strawberries do not grow on waist-high bushes. VERDICT Consider as an additional selection.
