Preschool-Grade 1 This tale, reminiscent of Michael Rosen's We're Going on a Bear Hunt, opens with a colorful map of Wingbeat Island, which from afar looks very much like a dragon. After discovering that her toddler brother is missing, a young girl in a crown goes in search of him. The text relays her journey in rhyming couplets, regularly returning to the bold-font warning, ""Don't disturb the dragon!" As she tiptoes past sparkly, pointed teeth (actually unicorn horns), steps on stones to cross a river, swings over the riverbank, and creeps into a deep, dark, smoky cave, young children will enjoy participating in the simple movements and the text's repetition. Digital cartoon illustrations present cheerful, richly-colored tropes of medieval fantasy, including castles, bats, trolls, and, of course, a large red dragon. Destined to be a hit at storytime.
