Tatler Dining Best Restaurants Hong Kong & Macau

My Cup of Tea • Since 1984, the Tatler Dining Guide has been a collection that celebrates the very best of dining in Hong Kong—not only the chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers and more that make up the culinary scene, but the people and themes that make this city all the more special. From the 2022 guide onwards, we will be championing local talent in the art scene, asking them to give us their interpretation of what the city’s gastronomy means to them. Mandy Mackenzie Ng, who was born and raised in Hong Kong, is the first to take up the challenge

Tatler Dining Kitchen • The Tatler Dining team started 2021 with one of our most exciting projects to date: a restaurant space at Haus in Central, designed to showcase Hong Kong’s finest F&B talent

Table Radar • Hong Kong’s dining scene has bounced back after a tough two years, with a steady stream of fresh and thrilling new openings—here are all the restaurants and bars that were about to launch by the time we went to print

The Past, Present and Future of Cantonese Spirits • Hong Kong has a long but forgotten history of distilling spirits found nowhere else in the world, but there might yet be a renaissance in store for this neglected industry

What’s Important to Me • A tactile sculpture, a beloved cookbook passed down through generations—our community of tastemakers were asked to spotlight a single item that they hold dear, and tell us the stories behind their importance

The Ultimate Dining Cheatsheet • Our favourite places for all kinds of occasions and situations, at a glance

It was the bset of Times, It was the Worst of Times… • There’s no doubting that the last few years have been tough on Hong Kong’s F&B industry, with Covid-19’s impact causing many businesses to rethink their operations. Nevertheless, the city’s dining scene has proved its mettle, adapting quickly and creatively to ever-changing government restrictions, turning challenges into new opportunities. We spoke to some of the city's industry leaders to discover the biggest lessons they have learned from the pandemic

What Concerns You? • Food “concern groups” on social media, bringing together ultra-niche food stans connected by their shared love of one specific dish, drink or snack, was one of the defining culinary trends of 2021

Who Wants to be a Food Influencer? • Step right up, stranger, and enter a bacchanalian carnival of delights as we play Who Wants To Be A Food Influencer? Navigate a minefield of choices as you gorge, hobnob, flatlay, and hashtag your way to the top of the Instagram food chain. Will you end up with a seat at the table of star influencers, with the city’s top chefs clamouring for you to walk through their restaurant doors? Or will you be shunned by the establishment, never to eat another appetiser on the house again? Only time, effort, and your engagement rate will tell

A Seat at the Table • After the pandemic put the 2021 edition of our awards on pause, the Tatler Dining community have once again rallied together to dine and decide upon the fresh 2022 Tatler 20 list and special awards

The Tatler 20 • An annual, unranked list of the year’s most important and impactful restaurants, as voted on by Tatler’s panel of experts
