Beginning with your baby's sun sign, then diving into their whole birth chart, here's how to use astrology to decode your little one's personality, character traits, communication style, likes and dislikes, inspiration for happiness, and triggers for fussiness, even the best-suited books, toys, and activities. Divided into three parts—The Twelve Signs; A Guide to Your Little One's Mind, Spirit, and Well-Being; and Parent and Child Relationships: Bonding with Your Growing Star—this book covers specifics on parenting based on your own astrological identity (an Aries parent and an Aries child will connect through competitive activities but may clash as a result of their being equally hotheaded). It includes best ways to foster your little one's self-expression (art supplies are a must-have for Libras) and how to boost your baby's physical and mental well-being (a back rub before bed will be especially soothing for a tense Leo). In other words, it's a parenting book tailored to your unique child, all based on the timeless wisdom of the zodiac.

This entertaining debut from astrologer Brown provides parenting advice tailored to a baby’s astrological sign. She begins with an easy-to-follow overview of astrology, explaining that sun signs relate to “core identity and self-image” while moon signs speak to one’s “emotions and intuition.” Profiles of the 12 zodiac signs describe what parents might expect from babies born under each. Aries babies, for example, are active and enjoy new experiences while Leos love to be in the spotlight, though their bossiness means they might resist discipline. Brown opines on how best to aid a little one’s self-expression and learning, recommending that parents of Sagittarians praise their tendency to air their honest opinions while helping them learn when it’s best to keep one’s thoughts to oneself, and that parents of Scorpios respect their preference for processing feelings at their own pace. She also exhaustively discusses the probable dynamics between every combination of a parent’s and baby’s signs, writing that Virgo parents may need to slow their hurried pace to meet their Taurus child where they’re at. This thoroughness paired with the gentle advice makes for an ideal reference for the new age set. Open-minded parents will find this a fun resource.

The author, Maressa Brown, narrates this astrology guide to infants and toddlers using gender-neutral terms, inclusive words for alternative families, and a focus on early childhood development. Quick yet thorough sections cover how astrology works; traits and parenting tips for babies, based on their charts; and parent-child relationship info based on astrological signs. Brown remains cheerful and warm even after delivering a multitude of lists, showing passion for her subject and her love of babies. This audio is most useful for those who are unable to read the text or those who learn best by listening. Visual learners may get lost in the bombardment of words. Listeners should come prepared with their baby's complete astrological chart. S.S. © AudioFile 2024, Portland, Maine
