      Bob Ross inspired a generation (or two) of amateur painters, and now Pierson-Cox has translated his wisdom into cross stitch. Beginning with the basics, from prepping the fabric to making a cross stitch, the book moves on to 12 colorful, text-heavy patterns. Extolling such virtues as ""We Don't Make Mistakes, Just Happy Accidents,"" ""If You Learn From It, It's Not a Failure,"" and ""Anything We Don't Like, We'll Turn It into a Happy Little Tree,"" each pattern has a unique layout and design to keep things interesting, featuring paint tubes and trees (of course) and even Bob Ross himself. Patterns use colors instead of symbols, and instructions include where to start (the center) and the optimal order for completing the stitches. One quibble is that finished projects are shown stitched onto tote bags, aprons, and backpacks without instructions for stitching onto non-Aida fabrics. Still, this is an attractive, quirky set of patterns that is on-trend for text-based, relatively quick and simple cross stitch patterns.
